A lot of things have been specified in the bible, but men seem to need an over arching reason beyond God. It would seem the Bible or God’s instruction is not enough till it is reinforced by a “leading” scientist or thought leader of this age.
The Bible placed rules on different aspect of life. How you treat your wife, your family, your animals, your workers, your bosses, your juniors, social life, lifestyle choices. It even guides what you eat, drink and who you have sex with (yup that too!)
The bible lets us understand that all these is done for our good, but why do we not believe until “science” comes up with a reason. Preachers hammered on smoking and drinking far before the FMHs of the world “regulated” adverts with health and adverse effect warnings.
Sex outside marriage is outlawed in scriptures, but our eyes are still not open to the dangers of cancelling the Abstinence in the ABCs of sex education. We’ve resulted in giving a pass on the B and even now the C is not a big deal since you can always get an abortion. When will we look to God’s law for wisdom? Now we are trying to get men and women loyal and many celebrities are touting the “virginity till marriage” tag. When will we see that God’s laws are not for Him but for us.
Fasting was once a regular. Families, fasted at lent and at stipulated times even if not weekly on Sundays, but there came a gospel that said “fasting doesn’t move God” and “we are not fasting, yet things are happening”. Truth in themselves, but they sought to destroy without building up. People will fast at the recommendation of their doctor. Several well being and exercise platforms incorporate fastings into their program. Fasting is now recognized as a good thing.
Everywhere you look, you see the effect of neglecting the law of God. But men will always seek darkness and gravitate towards a candle when all they need is to step out into the sun. It is amazing when people tout a new wave, making it seem profound and new when it is expressly stated in scriptures. Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life…John 5:39
Moses rod became a snake, as a sign that God wanted the best for Israel. The magicians also did the same and Pharaoh thought it to be nothing, in fact he believed the magicians even more and hardened his heart. It took the death for him to come to terms with the reality that God operated in a realm above that of the magicians.
